Riverford

We are delighted to be taking part in Agroforestry Open Weekend 2023
Our farm

Riverford began in 1986, when Guy Singh-Watson started growing organic veg in a corner of his parents’ Devon farm and delivering it to local friends. Now we’re an employee-owned national organic box delivery company, delivering 50,000 boxes a week to people’s homes.

Our agroforestry

We have a number of agroforestry projects around Riverford. We’ll be offering two options:

  • Take a close to farm tour and talk which will include a 10 year plum orchard, 1-year mixed planting site where we’ve experimented with both tree types, including unusual edibles, and different biodegradable tree guards. The walk will also cover a new woodland planting, bush fruit and riparian buffer.
  • A longer stroll from the farm to visit a walnut silvopasture system where the trees were planted as a commercial crop and protected by electric fencing from the Riverford Dairy cows who graze the field.
how to find us

The farm is pretty easy to find with signposts from the road (along with a requested speed limit to be considerate of the neighbours). The address is Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon TQ11 0JU.

If you’re coming from Totnes or Totnes train station there is a national cycle network route which will bring you some, but not all, of the way.
