We are delighted to be taking part in Agroforestry Open Weekend 2026
Our farm
We have 120acres of permanent pasture and a pedigree South Devon suckler herd, also hosting sheep graziers on a grass keep basis. Conservation projects in tune with agro-ecological principles have been carried out over many years and are an integral part of the way we manage land. The farm has been in the family for over a century and we take great pride in looking after this little corner of the Blackdown Hills.
Our agroforestry
We have been practising silvopasture for about 7 years, initially driven to enhance and future proof animal welfare. Other benefits that come from tree planting within pasture have become increasingly recognised as equally worthwhile. Mixed tree species have been added using different approaches and we feel this is elevating our already wildlife friendly practices, species rich hedgerows and established trees to another level. The combination is also opening up alternative and complimentary grazing opportunities that will further assist biodiversity and livestock welfare.
Key agro-forestry features includes hedgerows, orchard, natural colonisation, in field planting (standalone and blocks), and wood pasture creation.
