We are delighted to be taking part in Agroforestry Open Weekend 2026
Our farm
Shillingford Organics is an organic, agroecological farm & just 3 miles from the center of Exeter. The farm has been organic since 2000 & farmed by the Bragg family since 1965. A team of dedicated growers produce our veg & fruit. Our produce is sold via our vegetable box scheme, farmers markets and in a farm shop & cafe. The farm produces healthy food for local people.
Our agroforestry
We have three fields containing different ages of silvohorticulture. In the first field, we planted different varieties of apple trees narrowly. It has been a struggle to grow between these rows. In the second field, we planted different varieties of apple trees in rows that are wider apart. We also have willow windbreaks and different species such as sea buckthorn in this mix. Our final agroforestry field was planted this recent Autumn/Winter. This is a diverse mix including almond, hazelnut, damsens and plums.
