Nestled amidst the lush beauty of rural Northern Costa Rica lies our haven – a 200-acre private nature reserve and regenerative organic agroforestry project. As participants in the upcoming Agroforestry Open Weekend 2024, we are thrilled to invite you to embark on an enriching journey through our verdant landscapes in rural Northern Costa Rica. We employ a variety of agroforestry techniques in a total of five sectors of our farm and rainforest nature preserve.

Discover Our Farm: A Harmony of Nature and Sustainability

Our farm is an organic biodiverse sanctuary intertwined with the pristine beauty of Rincon de la Vieja National Park and the Guanacaste Conservation Area. Here, amidst the symphony of chirping birds and howling monkeys, we’ve cultivated a haven for biodiversity and sustainable practices.

Unveiling Our Agroforestry Marvels

Step into our one-acre regenerative agroforestry masterpiece, an ode to nature’s resilience, based on the Analogue Forestry model. Embraced here since 2018, our one acre analogue forest intertwines existing trees with a vibrant tapestry of new selected and planned growth. You can wander through the remaining 20 acres of food forests organized in three different formats to find an agroforestry delight, an experimental and experiential work in progress, teeming with over 80 tropical fruit species, including exotic delights like soursop, rambutan, caviar lemon and mangosteen.

Mark your calendars for May 17 to 20 and immerse yourself in a world of sustainable living. We plan to be open from 8 AM to 4 PM and offering guided tours thrice daily, you’ll witness firsthand the magic of regenerative agroforestry in the tropics. Reach out to reserve your spot, request any extra services, and ensure a seamless journey to and through our rainforest oasis.

Relish in the flavors of our farm-to-table restaurant, serving delectable dishes crafted from our bountiful harvest, please communicate in advance your dietary preferences such as vegetarian, gluten free etc, so we can be ready to make you smile inside and out.

Navigating to Our Sanctuary

We are located in Colonia Libertad, Aguas Claras, Upala, Alajuela, Costa Rica, in an area often called the Zona Norte Norte. While our rural retreat may seem tucked away, fret not – we’re easily accessible via Google Maps and Waze. For those without access to vehicles, our dedicated taxi service ensures a hassle-free arrival for those arriving via bus to Aguas Claras.

We have centralized on site parking for about 10 vehicles, and more parking a bit farther down the road. Our main house is wheelchair and walker accessible, however the cultivated agroforestry areas are uneven and bumpy and would be difficult in a wheelchair or a walker. A cane user should be able to navigate at least the closer cultivated areas, while staying on the main road.

Also if you would like to arrange for a farm to table meal at our restaurant or want to stay overnight or go on a guided hike through our primary rainforest preserve to one of our five waterfalls, please contact us for your reservation. We would be happy to send you to one of our five private waterfalls on a hike with our local guide, makes for a great relaxation in the abundance of the primary rainforest. As we already have six dogs here, it is probably best not to bring your dogs here.
